What ages do you work with?
Rooted Connections Therapy supports children across early childhood and the school years. Contact us to discuss your child's age and communication needs.
What concerns can a Speech-Language Pathologist help with?
 A Speech-Language Pathologist may support children with speech sound development, early language, expressive and receptive language, social communication, AAC, literacy and other communication needs.
Do I need a referral?
No, you do not need a referral to begin speech-language therapy.Â
What happens during the first appointment?
The first appointment focuses on understanding your concerns, learning about your child, discussing goals, and determining appropriate next steps.
How long are therapy sessions?
Session length depends on the child's needs, goals, age, and individualized treatment plan. Initial assessments are typically 60 minutes and subsequent sessions are 45 minutes long. When appropriate, 30 minute session will be offered.Â
Do you provide parent coaching?
Yes. Parent coaching may be incorporated into therapy to help caregivers use practical communication strategies during everyday routines.
Do you work with schools or other professionals?
When appropriate and with family permission, collaboration with educators and other professionals may be part of the child's support plan.
What if I am not sure whether my child needs speech therapy?
You do not need to know exactly what your child needs before contacting us. A consultation is an opportunity to discuss your concerns and determine whether an assessment or other next step may be appropriate.
